Rules

Kids through 6th grade (and anyone else who is so inclined)

  • Read at least 15 minutes a day for 20 days and head to the Hazard or Aurora Libraries with your log for a free ice cream cone certificate donated by Cream at the Top!
  • Keep reading throughout the summer and bring your log back to SCCS and receive a free ice cream sundae! Those not attending SCCS will receive a prize at Aurora or Hazard Libraries at the end of the summer if they return their reading log.
  • Enjoy doing activities on the Bingo Board and visit the library when you get a bingo and receive a prize!

Teens Entering Grades 7-12

July 2nd – August 11th

  • Each time you visit the library to return a book you’ve read, you may select a prize from our Prize Bucket.
  • Fill out a short form for each book you’ve read this summer and be entered in our weekly drawings for gift certificates to the Village Market or Cream at the Top!
  • The more books you read, the greater your chances to win!
  • Begin entering on Monday, July 2nd.

Daniel Kirk Author Visit

Come meet Daniel Kirk, the creator of Library Mouse, make your own book, and go on a scavenger hunt to win a 3D Printed model of Library Mouse. Author and Illustrator Daniel Kirk will talk to us about being an author and illustrator and the first 30 families will receive a copy of his Library Mouse book!

Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre: The Bremen Town Musicians

Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre will tour a brand new adaptation of the classic Brothers’ Grimm fairytale, The Bremen Town Musicians! Our play follows four outcasts: a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster who have all left their homes because they have been told they are no longer useful. Their misfortune brings them together and sets them off on a whirlwind, musical adventure. In the end, the four friends learn that their unique talents are what make them special. Through teamwork, creativity, and a little music, they can do anything!

Teen Creation Station

Teens and Tweens are invited to come find their creative side and make art at the library.

Didgeridoo Down Under

Didgeridoo Down Under is a high-energy, Australia-themed show that combines music, culture, science, comedy, character building and audience participation. The didgeridoo, usually a hollow tree trunk, has been played by Aboriginal Australians for at least 1,500 years and is known for its otherworldly sound. But DDU is more than music. It’s interactive, educational, motivational and highly entertaining. You’ll learn about Aussie culture, animals and more, all while moving & grooving to the pulsing rhythms of the didge!

Teddy Bears’ Picnic with Tom Knight and his Puppets

Join us for our Annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Bring along your favorite bear and we will give it a prize! Picnic on the lawn at 12 noon and then head up to the Morgan Opera House at 12:30 pm for the puppet show! FREE!
