Reading Logs & Summer Challenges

There are 3 ways you can earn a certificate for an ice cream cone at CREAM AT THE TOP! You can choose any of them you want to do.

  1. Mark a circle for each day you read. You can color it, check it off, or use a sticker. After you mark 20 circles come to Aurora or Hazard Library to get your certificate. Keep reading this summer! This includes library books, personal books, e-books, and audiobooks.
  2. Take the Summer Challenge! Complete each of the 10 challenges and then come to the Aurora or Hazard Library to get your certificate.
  3. Attend 5 library programs. After you attend 5 programs, come to the Aurora or Hazard Library to get your certificate.

PLEASE RETURN YOUR LOG to Aurora or Hazard Library by the end of August or to your SCCS teacher in September for a special prize!

We will discuss the book, The Secret Garden on 81st Street by Ivy Noelle Weir, create your own terrarium, and munch on snacks with friends!

The REV Summer Youth Tour: Jack and the Turnip Root

A new fairy tale featuring Jack (of Beanstalk fame), now spoiled and wealthy from the Giant’s treasures.

Jack tosses away a strange turnip—only for it to grow into a tangle that pulls him into a world of tiny Ground Elves.

Dino Explorers Book Club

Travel back millions of years into the past, as The Secret Explorers rescue a precious dinosaur egg.

Geology Rocks! With the Rock Doc

Two great events with Dr. Millis, aka the Rock Doc!

10 AM—Interactive Geology talk for kids

Designed for 2nd grade and up but all welcome.

Each child will receive 3 rocks to start or add to their rock collections! Geode cracking after the talk!

 

1 PM—Geology talk for Teens & Adults

Dr. Millis will touch upon different geology related topics, including the variety of quartz and the Adirondack Mountains. Geode cracking after the talk!

 

A Mini Gem and Mineral Sale will be held after each talk with proceeds going to the Library! A special thanks to Dr. Millis for his time & donations.
