Dear Library Friend:
It is with great pleasure that I write to you today. 2022 has been a year of strength and growth. The Library has fully returned to in-person programming and events with great enthusiasm and has been focused on how to further reach its patrons. As you know, the Aurora Free Library is our community’s source of “Literacy and Learning” with a deep focus on fostering community relationships. We provide enriching programming to both children and adults through support from local artists, musicians, volunteers, schools and various other community groups.
We take great pride in our beautiful 122 year old building. This year we have refurbished the front doors and interior wood flooring, and replaced the side entrance steps. We have secured funding to repair our terracotta tile roof and will be fixing our main entrance stairs. We are exploring adding air conditioning to the Morgan Opera House and repairing or replacing the windows, with the goal of creating a more comfortable venue and increasing programming. Finally, we are looking into providing outdoor lockers which would allow patrons to access their borrowed materials 24/7. This will help us expand our “hours” for increased community access.
We believe that the Library is a vital part of the community and are asking that you help us achieve our fundraising goal: 10% of our operating budget, approximately $12,000. Gifts can be earmarked to support the Aurora Free Library, the Morgan Opera House Committee, and/or the Preservation Committee.
