There are 3 ways you can earn a certificate for an ice cream cone at CREAM AT THE TOP!

  1. Color a circle for each day you read! After you color 20 circles come to Aurora or Hazard Library to get your certificate. Keep reading this summer! This includes library books, personal books, e-books, and audio books.
  2. Take the Summer Challenge! Complete each of the 10 challenges and then come to Aurora or Hazard Library to get your certificate.
  3. Attend 5 library programs. After you attend 5 programs come to Aurora or Hazard Library to get your certificate.

PLEASE RETURN YOUR LOG to Aurora or Hazard Library by the end of August OR to your SCCS teacher in September for a special prize!

Teen and Adult Summer Reading

Weekly Drawings!

Each time you read or listen to a book, fill out an entry when you visit the library (books do not have to be library books) and be entered into our weekly drawings for gift cards, prizes, or an ice cream cone from Cream at the Top!

Weekly drawings start the week of July 7th and continue through August 9th.

Open for Grade 7 through Adult.

Join Create Kindness and the Aurora Free Library for tie-dying, lawn games, summer reading registration, book buddies, and a book giveaway!

The Color of Magic with Jeff the Magic Man

An evening of magic, balloon artistry, puppetry, and storytelling.

Each child will receive a balloon creation after the show!

AuroraFest: LEGO Lake Creatures & Mermaid Mini Golf Hole

Drop in between 10 am and 2 pm for these happenings at the Aurora Free Library:

Mr. Buffalo Interactive Drumming

A magical rhythm adventure!

Join us for a free interactive program that brings rhythm, magic, and creativity to life!

Explore the joy of music-making using bells, shakers, castanets, Boomwhackers, and more while being guided by hand drums and shamanic drumming tracks with gentle synthesizer sounds.

All ages welcome!

Rev Theatre "Rumpelstiltskin: Unspun"

The REV Theatre Co presents Rumpelstiltskin: Unspun, written by Kyle Adkins

The story of Rumpelstiltskin has been told and retold throughout the ages, despite its obvious flaws. When The Miller’s Daughter starts to question her Father’s poor decision making, her King’s greediness, and the shady deal proposed by a funny little man, the whole fairy tale begins to unravel. The Miller’s Daughter breaks through the fourth wall and enlists the help of the audience to fix her broken story and spin a new tale.

Held in the Morgan Opera House — Free!

Graphic Novel Author Doogie Horner

How to make a comic book!

Author and illustrator Doogie Horner will give a multimedia presentation that shows step-by-step how he writes and draws a graphic novel, plus clear demonstrations of the five most important elements of visual storytelling—elements that kids can use to create their own comics!
